I don't think distance is that much of an issue, other things you may want to consider is whether you want catered/self-catered accomodation, and there are also some halls that are a little more quieter and slightly better studying environments than others
Hey, thanks for the replies. So is Victoria park the more quieter area, better for a study environment? Yeah...I have looked into the other things you have suggested...but was just wondering about distances and things of the accommodation and dental school which you've answered as i'm not so famliar with area...so thansk for that.

What's the dissection like?

Did you have any offers from other unis for dentistry last year? and if its ok I was just wondering if that it is the case you did what was the factor that made you choose Manchester?

Victoria Park is quieter...but not on a bus route so in effect you'd have to walk (15mins ish). Basically its 10 min walk to a main rd to go anywhere of interest. Anyway, you wanna enjoy the uni experience and go somewhere thats fun! Owens park, oak house in Fallowfield. Or Whitworth park nearer to town, 10 mins on a bus to Fallowfield and iterally 2 mins to Stopford building for PBL, disection etc. Useful for those 9am! In fact I had an 8am Friday PBL in first year! If you want a quiet study environment you could use the library. Uni only happens once!

Disection is good. Intresting, not many people can claim to have seen let alone cut up a dead body. Although, it does lose its appeal quickly as it stinks and you sometimes question the relevance of what you're doing. Do I really need to have disected and have an indepth anatomical knowledge of the stomach? Or the names of the parts of a vertebra? Prob not. Although on the whole it aids understanding.
